From implementing data lakes and migrating off commercial databases to optimizing data flows between systems, turn your data into insights with AWS cloud native data services.
Learn about the state of data in the world, why it matters to companies and how they can transform their infrastructure and data repositories to generate actionable business intelligence.
Why is it so important to think deeply about how your data is evolving within the cloud?
Sometimes it's easy to feel like data is not as valuable to you, perhaps because you don't have as much, but the reality is that data is permeating everything today. Statistics have shown that in 2020, we had something like 65 zettabytes of data in the world and the projection is that by 2025, we’re going to be at 180 zettabytes. That's like 180 trillion gigabytes of data worldwide. If you're not creating data and you're not ingesting data, you're absolutely still going to be involved in data in some form or fashion.
Consider then, that not only are we collecting more data about the things that we're collecting data about, but we have more things, like IoT devices, that are now collecting data, too. Everything is connected to the Internet. Manufacturers build things that have sensors and they're reporting data back, and so data is all over the place. Now it's a matter of making sure that we have it in the right place and that the people who can make insights out of it are positioned to be able to garner those insights out of that data.
How do we at Caylent help enable customers to get in a place to garner those insight, to learn more from their data? And how do we help them modernize their data and bring it into stores that let them perform the queries that they want to, to derive the business intelligence they’re looking for?
There are some real tactical items, of course, that are kind of table stakes at this point. We help our customers collect data from various sources, put it into cold storage where they can still query it, but it's really cheap to store. You could use things like Amazon Athena to query Amazon S3. Your data is in cold storage which makes it cheap to store, but maybe it's not as quick to query. As usage patterns start to spike up and you see those trends, you can push into warmer storage like PostgreSQL or Amazon Redshift, for example. And now you've got a hot data store that you can query and you can get results quickly. It just results in a different expense in the way that you store the data.
Finding the combination, the right spot between the available options, is really the table stakes - figuring out how you're going to store your data and where you're going to store it. The real value comes in enabling customers to understand that they are generating data and that they are not only producers but consumers of data. And then, thinking about how they can drive their business if they had better data.
You've got the historical data that will show you how your business has performed, and then you've also got the ability to predict the future based on the data that you have, if you were to leverage things like artificial intelligence and machine learning in the right way.
We offer a Data Modernization Assessment, that lets you deeply understand what your entities and access patterns are as a business and leverage modern data stores from Amazon Neptune to Amazon Redshift or PostgreSQL or Amazon Aurora. And we can look at what your business use cases are and help you pick out the right set of data stores to give the results that you want at the price point that you want.
Our AWS Serverless Data Lake Caylent Catalyst is more suited for customers who have been collecting data over time, but may not necessarily know exactly where to put it or what to do with it. In this engagement, we help them understand why this data is an asset instead of why that data could be expensive baggage, by helping them easily setup data storage & analytics foundations.
